Can Pastilla became a very fabulous place for all who want to be close to the airport, to the island capital Palma de Mallorca and to the lovely, wide, sandy beach of Playa de Palma.
It is also a very popular water sports center on the island.
You have 80% chances of good wind conditions due to unique location and the shape of Palma Gulf . Wing foilers also appreciate offshore direction when the water is absolutely flat even if it blows over 20 knots.
It is very important to notice that in the high season in Mallorca there are only two legally accepted kite spots. Can Pastilla is one of them. High season is considered when the lifeguards are on duty. It is mostly from May to the end of October.
Don't try to launch your kite on other beaches or without lifeguard permission. It may cost you thousands of EUR fine and even takeover of your equipment by the police. Seriously!
Wing is a different story and you can go out on water using many "channels". Channels are sea paths signed with boyas where you can safely get your equipment to water. Kayak, SUP, wing, windsurfing and others. It is also very important to practice your water sport behind the border marked with yellow boyas. It's for all safety and braking that rule may cost you a lot of EURs.
If you are staying in one of many Can Pastilla hotels you may organise your time even without a car. A public bus A2 connetcting the airport with Arenal goes through Can Pastilla and costs only 5 EUR one way. Taxi is more or less 10-12 EUR. You can take another public transportation to the heart of Palma de Mallorca and enjoy this gorgeous city or transfer to one of many beautiful places in Mallorca. A bike ride to Palma de Mallorca takes about 20 minutes. It goes through small coastal villages with many lovely places to relax or enjoy the view and the sea breeze.
Can Pastilla and Mallorca are absolutely the places worth visiting and practicing your favorite watersports, say it kite-, wing- or windsurfing.
